1946

Georges Lissac founded SIL (Société Industrielle de Lunetterie) to produce optical spectacle frames, which were quickly adapted into a sunglasses version under the SOL-AMOR line.

1954

It develops new materials and technologies, such as organic glass, Orma 1000, enabling it to imagine lighter, more comfortable, and more resistant models that will contribute to its success.

1961

Launch of the iconic Sport1000 model, from the "grand galbe series," immediately adopted.

From 1950 to 1970, Solamor achieved immense success, with approximately 15 million glasses sold and 95% of French opticians distributing them.

1971

Merger between Essel and Silor to create Essilor, now one of the world leaders in the production of corrective lenses and glasses.

2024

Alain Miklitarian captivated by its history, grandeur, and technicality, are bringing Solamor back into the spotlight.

Since 2025, Maison Solamor has welcomed Jérémy Miklitarian as its new Creative Director. Driven, like his father, by a profound passion for eyewear and propelled by a bold vision, he is helping to evolve the house's identity while preserving its heritage.
